What is the Policy Council:
The Policy Council shares governing power for the Head Start program with the Community Action Agency of South Alabama Board of Directors; while the Board has ultimate responsibility for the financial health and welfare for the agency. Policy Council is responsible for program design and operations, long and short term goals, approving hire recommendations and approving policies, funding applications and activities that support school readiness, parent and family engagement.
The Policy Council is made up of both parents of children currently enrolled in the program and representatives from community partners. There is (1) one parent representative from: Magnolia Springs, Jubilee, Freemanville, Brewton, and Coffeeville. There are (2) two representatives for Cross Roads; while Fulton has (3) parent representatives. There is (1) alternate parent representative for each location.
